Guantánamo – Madelaine Fernández Martínez, Head of the Department of Secretary in the Provincial Government of People’s Power in Guantánamo, assured that the conditions are created to begin this September 20 the First Process of Accountability of the delegate to his electors corresponding to the XVIII Period of Mandates of the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power.

She stressed that the complex economic scenario requires that the representatives of the people offer detailed information to the population, at which time she confirmed that more than 2,300 meetings will be held throughout the 596 constituencies, in many of which pilot or demonstration assemblies will take place.

The government official stated the main concerns of the population are related to water supply shortages, lowering prices, fixing roads, and transportation services, greater distribution of medicines, facilitating procedures and increasing food sales.

In these days prior to the traditional meeting between neighbors, information was exchanged and reported on the progress and situation of the organizations and the State, in aspects concerning the electorate’s proposals in previous processes, all of which allowed us to know that Guantanamo has more than eighty percent compliance.

The highest political and governmental leaderships in the Guantanamo Province hope that the process of accountability of the delegate to his voters that begins this September 20th and will extend until November 15th, constitutes a true example of participatory democracy through which the people with their attendance and participation demonstrate a genuine exercise of government.
