Guantanamo.- The Villa del Guaso celebrated the 46th Guantamera Culture Week, a time when history, culture and tradition were displayed in various stages to highlight the authentic values of the sociocultural work of the inhabitants of the capital city of the province.
One of the most outstanding initiatives of the celebration was the 38th Municipal Workshop “De la Confianza a San Pedro”, an event sponsored by the provincial branch of the Cuban Historians Association (UNHIC, in Spanish), on the occasion of commemorating the 130th anniversary of the resumption of the struggles for the Independence of Cuba.
The academic meeting at the House of History on February 21st was attended by the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and Major General, Samuel Rodiles Planas, an illustrious Guantanamo native who participated in the panel on the notes in José Martí’s diary after landing on the southern coast of the Cuban Upper East.
Also, several community activities are highlighted in the 46th Guantanamera Culture Week, such as the tribute to the figure of the art instructor Reinaldo Heredia Rivera, on the 80th birthday, with the presence of artistic units of all manifestations, literature, in addition to a representative exhibition of his recognitions obtained throughout his artistic career as an art instructor and director of the Heredia carnival parade.
