Among the nine works presented, mostly aimed at the preservation of Guantanamo´s cultural heritage, the Coffee Heritage Management Center project, by Mr. Osmany Miguel Pérez, was awarded at the First Forum on Sociocultural Creative and Innovative for Local Development Projects.

The initiative included in the seventh issue of the Chocolate con Caffe Festival, awarded Marti Bosques project, by architect Zulma Ojeda; followed in second place by El Patio de Adela, a mission aimed at the cultural development by promoter Adela Gómez Blanco and Manos Mágicas, by Yenercy Ramírez, in third place.

This first issue of the event – organized by the Territorial Development Center, the Provincial sector of Culture, together with the Rubén López Sabariego House of Culture – provided an update to managers and economic actors on the new vision and strategic objectives of local development, including among its lines the socio-cultural management; as stated by Regla Martínez Hechavarría, main official of the government institution in the Guantanamo municipality.

The section Creative and Innovative Sociocultural projects for local development mentioned the Afro and Rizos Guantanamo, Afro Power, and Heirs of changüí creation of changüi chairs sociocultural projects, in addition to recognizing the Lakou Lwa initiatives – which advocates for the rescue of Haitian culture -, the Skating Rink and Changing Color, whose objective enhances the beautification of the city.
