Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba and Granma will be the provinces in the southeastern part of Cuba to host 2024 Turnat, the most important nature tourism event on the Caribbean island, to be held from September 24 to 29.
According to Reina Alayo, main specialist of the Ecotur Travel Agency in this province, Santiago de Cuba will be the venue for the event for the first time, which is celebrating its 14th issue.
She said that the untamed territory has around 16 areas of protected nature, hence the importance of the event for that province, as it will enable it to show all its attributes and benefits, in order to boost this modality of the sector in this part of the country, taking into account respect and sustainability with the environment.
Alayo pointed out that it will be a good opportunity to position Santiago de Cuba, a city privileged by its mountains and the sea, in community and nature tourism, and to attract potential clients.
She said that the 2024 Turnat agenda includes keynote lectures, a trade fair, as well as rural tourism modalities: visits to peasant farms; hiking of high and moderate complexity; photographic jeep safari; diving, kayaking and nautical activities; and accessible tourism, well-being and quality of life.
The event is a sign of Cuba’s commitment to the development of responsible tourism, which delights national and foreign visitors and contributes to the preservation of natural heritage, she also said.
Aimed at tour operators, travel agencies, promoters and opinion leaders who manage nature tourism, Turnat generates new possibilities and promotes the design of specialized products, turning attractions into tourist offers.
