The Science, Technology and Environment system in Guantanamo stands out for its contributions, based on studies and the application of innovations in different areas, as well as actions to preserve the environment.

These achievements are the result of the cohesive work between the scientific centers of the territory and their link with entities and organizations, in favor of achieving greater integration of all actors, in pursuit of sustainable development.

Guantanamo specialists and researchers are distinguished by the improvement of meteorological services, the rescue of endemic species of flora and fauna, as well as the search for sustainable alternatives through the implementation of projects that involve the use of agroecological practices and resilience to the effects of climate change.

As part of the attention to human potential, the joint work with the professors and students of the IPVCE José Maceo Grajales is improved for professional guidance towards careers in Exact, Natural, Technical and Agricultural Sciences, in order to guarantee continuity in the future of research and invention.

Also they stand out in the work of the Technical Advisory Council in various entities and the CITMA agencies in the municipalities and the Provincial Council of Social Sciences that are committed to greater use of studies, innovations and projects in local activities.

During 2023, the Guantanamo scientific community contributes to the development of projects, the use of technologies and sustainable practices in different programs, which will benefit the province in the medium and long terms, in pursuit of greater socioeconomic progress.
