Guantanamo.- The Guantanamo shooter Erisnelki Cruz got a ticked in the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, during the first qualifying event in America in the women’s rifle and pistol modalities, which has been held in the Paraguayan capital since February 27 and until March 6.

The young figure of Guantanamo sports shooting won in the 10-meter air rifle event, along with Ormide Batista from Sancti Spiritus and Jonathan González from Havana. In the women’s 10-meter air pistol, the two Cuban exponents, Melani Abreu from Cienfuegos and Adianet Samela from Las Tunas, won tickets.

Erisnelkis also won the gold medal in the 50-meter rifle three-position section, and Paula Yanez, the bronze medal. Jonathan González won the title in this same event among men.

“It was a very high-level competition, which brought together a large number of participants per event. When practicing individually, the performance of Melani Abreu stands out, who had an excellent competition,” Julio Fidel Hernández Díaz, national shooting methodologist, told JIT.

“We hope to achieved the eight possible places. It was not possible, but despite this, the team had a good performance, with a lot of discipline,” added Hernández Díaz.
