Guantanamo.- Guantanamo stands out at the national level for the execution of Hazard, Vulnerabilities and Risk Studies (PVR), whose results constitute valuable knowledge for governments, organizations and institutions, in favor of adopting measures in each case and preventing regrettable events.

The results of these investigations carried out in the province are used in the development of disaster reduction plans, territorial planning and the design of economic and social development policies.

These studies, which have been carried out in recent years, are related to topics of specific interest to each municipality, according to the types of contingencies identified, such as coastal flooding due to sea penetration and heavy rains, damage from strong winds, forest fires, landslides, droughts and earthquakes.

The knowledge provided by the PVR Studies provides an integrative vision to local governments, institutions and organizations to adequately manage disaster risks and contribute to the search for alternatives to mitigate the impact of climate change and achieve greater resilience of the population.

The Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Risks in Guantánamo (PVR) studies also offer tools to reorient intervention strategies in the territory to avoid the loss of human lives, economic assets and natural resources.
