The Guantanamo writer Ragnar Wilfredo Robas Rodríguez, with the work “Cosas que arden en el pasto” (Things that burn in the grass), was the winner of the 2024 Calendario Prize in the category of poetry, a literary award conferred by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Cuba, and whose results were announced on the Facebook institutional profile of this cultural organization that brings together the country’s young artistic avant-garde.

On this occasion, among more than a hundred authors participating in the 2024 Calendario Prize, the poetics of the writer and also visual creator from Imías, Ragnar Wilfredo Robas, a member of the AHS branch in Guantanamo and member of the plastic arts club Los Descamisados de las artes plásticas, stood out.

This Guantanamo writer has to his credit the publication of his first collection of poems titled Punto de quiebre, by the local literary label El Mar y la Montaña, as well as the narrative book Zapping, which belongs to the catalog of the publishing brand Ediciones La Luz, of the Holguín Province.

The 2024 Calendario Prize was also awarded to other young writers like Robert Ráez Ávila in the categoryof narrative ; Iramís Rosique Cárdenas, in essay, Lioneski Buquet Rodríguez, in children’s and youth; and Náthaly Hernández Chávezi, in science fiction.
