Guantánamo.- The villages of La Punta and Limones, in the municipality of Maisí, will benefit from funding from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund of the Small Grants Programme, as part of the United Nations Development Programme in Cuba. This funding will support the protection of natural areas through five projects starting in 2025 across the island.

The selected proposal, entitled «Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Heritage in the Punta de Maisí People’s Council, through the Improvement of the Quality of Life of its Inhabitants,» was submitted by the National Center for Protected Areas and stood out among 35 applicants nationwide.

The support from the United Nations Development Programme in Cuba will enable the promotion of actions aimed at halting the loss of biodiversity and restoring ecosystem services in this strategic coastal and terrestrial landscape of eastern Cuba.
