Guantanamo.- The overflow of the main rivers, tributaries and ravines, as well as flooding in low areas, and landslides were caused by the 133.5 millimeters of heavy rains that fell in Baracoa in the last 24 hours, with greater intensity in the early hours of this Friday.
Such a situation caused that once again the homes of the neighbors of Primero de Abril and Mariana Grajales streets, among others, were left under water.
The Toa, Duaba, Macaguanigua and Miel rivers again left their usual course and destroyed everything in their path to wet again household appliances, mattresses and other personal belongings.
The intensity of the rain also affected roads that had already been restored, while making it more difficult to travel on the Moa highway, the only way to get to the territory now.
Sectors such as Agriculture, the Electric Base Business Unit and Education suffered damages that add to those left by the passage of Hurricane Oscar.
Members of the Baracoa Defense Council, activated days ago, quickly arrived at the flooded areas and, even in the rain, helped people trapped by flooding of the Miel River and evacuated several families.
