Hurricane Beryl is moving away from JamaicaHurricane Beryl is moving away from Jamaica leaving behind a scene of disaster, with sunken or damaged naval vessels, downed trees and power poles, more than 500 people in shelters, and rising sea levels due to rain and storm surge, as the meteorite continues on its path towards the Cayman Islands in the central Caribbean Sea.

‘Rising water levels will continue to affect coastal areas in the southwestern parishes as long as Beryl remains in the vicinity of the island, and all small boat operators are urged to remain in port until sea conditions return to normal,’ the Meteorological Services Branch of Jamaica (MetServiceJA) confirmed on its social networking account X.

Local media also confirmed that more than 400,000 Jamaicans (about 65 percent of the Jamaica Public Service Company’s customers) are now in the dark as a result of severe outages caused by Hurricane Beryl’s high winds and heavy rains.
