Guantanamo.- The Centro Memorial Martin Luther King Jr., based in Havana, Cuba, has distributed food, clothing, and essential supplies to more than 1,100 families in Santiago de Cuba and Granma—communities hit hardest by the storm as part of the Hurricane Melissa Relief efforts.According to the Facebook profile of People’s Forum, over 600 donors support this movement and they provide school and medical supplies, diapers, hygiene products, condoms, water purification tablets, toys, medicines.
The Hurricane Melissa Relief effort is making a real difference as families recover and rebuild despite the U.S. blockade’s stranglehold essentials for relief. The work continues—solidarity is stronger than the storm and the blockade.
