More than a hundred national and foreign researchers participate today in person and virtually in the opening of the 5th International Meeting Lifestyles vs Toxic Habits, organized by the Provincial Council of Scientific Health Societies in Guantanamo (CPSCS), the University of Medical Sciences (UCMGT), and the Spanish Society for Studies of Alcohol and Other Drug Addictions (Socidrogalcohol)
Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize winner (Argentina); Doctor Amador Cernuda Lago, professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain); Giselle Amador Muñoz, former Minister of Health (Costa Rica), and the renowned psychologist María Gabriela Sartori (Italy), are the personalities who will speak online at the academic meeting that will conclude on November 11.
The important scientific event officially opens this Wednesday with the keynote lecture entitled “A World without Drugs, a Happy World,” by the renowned PhD. Francisco Pascual Pastor, president of Socidrogalcohol, in the Aula Magna of the UCMGT, the headquarters of the plenary hall for the professional debate.
The PhD. Anselma Betancourt Pulsan, Labor Hero of the Republic of Cuba and president of the Organizing Committee, stated that they exchange experiences on the current and future challenges of drug use, with emphasis on prevention, interventions in different areas of society and the study of the impact of violence and other crimes on people’s health.
The also director of the CPSCS explained that the participants reaffirm the need to consider a society free of drug consumption as a determinant of social development and the role of primary medical care in promoting healthy lifestyles against toxic habits.
