Guantanamo.- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in Guantánamo, achieved of the status of Outstanding in the national emulation for the International Women’s Day, on March 8th, celebrated in the event for the anniversary in the town of Argeo Martínez, in the municipality of Manuel Tames.
Exhibitions of artisans, artistic and sports presentations of local talent marked the meeting, which recognized the contribution of young people to the tasks of the organization, and gave a group of students the card that accredits them as members of the FMC.
The event also praised the work that the territories do to improve the functioning of the FMC, with special recognition to Yateras and the House of Orientation for Women and the Family of the municipality of Guantánamo, while Niceto Pérez and El Salvador received diplomas of Outstanding.
Manuel Tames, the venue of the celebrations, was recognized as the Provincial Vanguard, by fulfilling all the indicators, achieving 92 percent integration of its women into the organization, as well as the active participation of the members of FMC in productive work, sanitation and support for Public Health.
In the key speech of the event, the young Yairis Fernández Castellanos, member of the provincial secretariat of the FMC, recognized the unity of the Guantanamo women and the relevance of the work of the organization to promote the work of the Revolution.
She urged to continue defending the full exercise of women’s equality, principles achieved thanks to the revolutionary victory, which contributed from the beginning to the emancipation of women and social justice.
In statements to the press, Adilis Noris Torres Hernández, secretary of the FMC in Guantánamo, highlighted among the main advances of the organization in the province, the fulfillment of economic indicators, the incorporation of more than 3 thousand young people to the organization, achieving 91.2 percent integration into the organization, and the creation of 39 children’s houses, of which 26 are located in areas of the Turquino Plan.
She highlighted that more than 66 percent of professionals in the province are women, there is stability in the cadre policy, there is a high representation in management positions and a systematic work in food production, parameters, she assured, that drive the women of Guantanamo to achieve the status of National Vanguard.
