Guantanamo.- With the increase in food production, the strengthening of the productive bases and the fulfillment of the cocoa harvesting plan, the farmers of Jamal greeted the 513th anniversary of Our Lady of the Assumption of Baracoa.

It was confirmed by Máximo Paumier Ramírez, president of the aforementioned demarcation in Baracoa, who pointed out that the farmers prepare the land for the planting of vegetables, tubers and other crops, despite the drought, which will guarantee part of the family basket.

At the current stage, they collect short-cycle crops such as beans, chard, beets, eggplants, among other crops, with which they supply the dining room of the Family Care System (SAF), which protects 53 diners, mostly elderly people who live alone and have little financial solvency.

Paumier Ramírez said that through the productions they also benefit vulnerable families and mothers with three or more children, who receive other benefits such as sets of sheets, quilts, towels, among other resources delivered by social workers and the Local Government.
