The Guantanamo branch of the José Martí Cultural Society develops an extensive program to commemorate the 171st anniversary of the birth of the Cuban National Hero, aimed at bringing the population and especially children closer to the figure and ideas of the Apostle of independence.

The organization in the eastern province reported that during this month of January the Municipal Councils of Martí and their clubs pay tribute to the Most Universal of all Cubans.

Until next January 20, the arts contest “With my brigade in the community” takes place, in charge of amateur artists and members of the José Martí Brigade in the neighborhoods.

On the eve of Jose Marti´s anniversary birthday, the provincial authorities of the Cuban Women´s Federation will deliver material aid to women interned in the local penitentiary center.

On January 28, Guantanamo residents will pay tribute and place floral offerings before the effigy of José Martí erected in the emblematic Central Park, and the traditional children parade and farewell ceremony will take place for the thirty-fourth issue of the Guantanamo-Baracoa Theatrical Crusade.

The moment will be the right moment to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Cuban Workers Federation, a union founded on January 28, 1939.
