Guantanamo.-Coinciding with the International Museum Day, a commemorative ceremony promoted by the Provincial Center for Cultural Heritage in Guantanamo took place on May 18 at the Major General Pedro Agustin Perez House Museum to recognize workers and institutions of the territory with a relevant performance in this field.
On the occasion, the Municipal Museums April 11, in Imias; and December 19, in Caimanera were recognized for the outstanding management of both groups in the safeguarding of the historical-cultural heritage of their locality, while Soraya San Juan Utria, Maglis Moynier Delisle, and Rafael Angel Caldentey, workers of this union with a meritorious trajectory, also received the award.
The young museologist from Guantanamo, Liesner Pablo Romero Vega, delivered the central words of the meeting, in which he referred to the significance of exalting and preserving museological institutions, as well as the fact that this 2024, the world commemoration of this day, instituted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), its main premise is the theme: “Museums for education and research“.
Singer Dayami Lores, troubadour Noel Nicot, actor Eldys Luis Cuba and the Changüí Guantanamo musical group, under the artistic direction of Lazaro McPherson Williams, enlivened this International Museum Day in the easternmost Cuban province with their musical performances.
