Guantánamo.- With the presence of Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in the province of Guantánamo, and Zonya Rivero López, Second Secretary of the National Committee of the Federation of Cuban Women, the Ordinary Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the FMC, taking place in Guantánamo Province, set the scene for a national debate on the female organization role.

The members of the Provincial Committee of the FMC evaluated the fulfillment of the organization’s 12 work objectives.

During this period, progress was recognized in the implementation of the National Program for the Advancement of Women and the increase in the incorporation of women into employment sources and leadership positions.

Those summoned to the ordinary plenary session vigorously debated the importance of working with reserve cadres, the functioning of the Orientation Houses for Women and Families, the role of the FMC in the community, and the ties between leadership and the grass-root organizations.

Likewise, at the meeting, the Committee members approved the release of Adilis Torres Hernández, Secretary of the FMC in this eastern province, and appointed to the aforementioned position to Yairis Fernández Castellanos, who holds an outstanding career in political, ideological, legal, and leadership work within the organization in the region.

The newly elected president expressed her determination to work with all the FMC members to ensure that Cuba’s easternmost province achieves Vanguard status in the National Emulation for the anniversary of the FMC’s founding on August 23rd.

For his part, Yoel Pérez García, the main political leader in Guantánamo called on the women of Guantánamo to strengthen the organization’s operations, improve the training of its cadres, and promote work in delegations and blocs.

He also emphasized the importance of caring for families and young people, especially those in vulnerable situations.
