Guantanamo.- The Los Indios de Guantánamo baseball team, which will participate in the 64th National Baseball Series starting September 2, was honored at the Mausoleum of the Guantanamo Mambisado, in La Confianza, during a ceremony led by Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Governor Alis Azaharez Torreblanca.
The ceremony was also attended by Richard Cruz Alcedo, Provincial Director of Sports; Yamil McBlan, Provincial Baseball Commissioner; as well as sports celebrities and officials from the sector in the region, along with representatives from the Club Movement, under the guidance of Provincial Coordinator Rolando Cervera Rigual “Gallo.”
On behalf of the people of Guantanamo, Pérez García, the highest political leader in the territory, gave the flag to the young baseball player and captain of the Indios del Guaso, Robert Luis Delgado Bueno, who pledged to be an example of leadership, discipline, and love for the team.
At the solemn flag-raising ceremony, the banner was carried by baseball player Roberto Borrego Magdariaga, who handed it over to Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, who in turn handed it over to Leonelkis Escalante Lora, who will be the flag bearer for the delegation, escorted by Danger Cassii and Yoelkis Baró.
Robert Luis Delgado Bueno, team captain, read the oath on behalf of the team members, in which they pledge to give their all for victory, game by game, to abide by referee decisions, and to maintain discipline on and off the field.
Each member of the Guantanamo team and the management team signed the Code of Ethics.
Guantánamo will play on September 2 at the Cándido González Stadium against Camagüey and is scheduled to host Santiago de Cuba on September 16 at the Nguyen Van Troi Stadium.
