Guantanamo.- In the Manuel Tames municipality, in Guantanamo Province,  during event to celebrate the Day of National Rebellion held in Héctor Infante neighborhood, Rafael Velázquez Bongo, secretary of the PCC, in his key speech called the people to defend unity from all fronts of work as a permanent practice to face the problems that today affect the development of the economy and thus enhance the legacy of that generation that with the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on July 26, 1953 taught the people of Cuba to turn setbacks into victories.

The leader expressed that the net sales plan for goods and services only reaches 72% of the more than 340 million pesos planned for this stage of the year and pointed out that six entities present losses, an indicator in which the Sugar Enterprise contributes the largest figures followed by the Food UEB, Aqueduct and Sewage, Wet Coffee Mill, the Match Factory as well as the Joint Commerce and Gastronomy Enterprise.

He pointed out that retail merchandise circulation reaches 128% of what was expected, but this figure is still far from the result expected by the population considering high prices and highlighted that with the start next September of a new process of accountability of the delegated to his voters, another important moment will come for the Cuban political system to, together, find solutions to the existing problems in each community and work center.

When referring to the reasons for granting the venue of the event to Héctor Infante neighborhood, he stated that this is one of the communities in transformation and added that the housing construction program, the elimination of dirt floors, the remodeling of commercial institutions is advancing here and announced the incorporation of a leased bus for transportation from this town to Jamaica, the main community of this municipality.

At the event and representing the youth of Manuel Tames, Isandra Rosario Castañeda ratified the commitment of the new generations to the defense of the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution and of those young people who did not let the apostle die in the year of his centenary.

During the commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the top leadership of the PCC and the government presented diplomas of recognition for their outstanding performance to the workers Jordanis Grandales Iznaga and Alcibiades Rojas Rosseaux as well as to Irela García Margendié, president of the Héctor Infante neighborhood. Likewise, the work of the Cuban Women Federation and that of workers in the sports sector was recognized.
