Guantanamo.- The Provincial Electoral Council (CEP, in Spanish) of the Guantánamo Province was set up this Friday in an official ceremony held in the halls of the Plaza de la Revolución Mariana Grajales Cuello, in the capital city, where Oceanía Orihuela Bignotte was elected the President of the board.

During the ceremony, headed by Yoel Pérez García, the top political leader in the eastern territory, the new members of the structure at this level were announced, who were appointed, in the case of the President, by the Council of State, while the Vice President, the Secretary (a) and the Members were appointed by the National Electoral Council.

It was also known that comrade Erit Robinet Ávila will serve as vice president; Javier Ángel Cutiño Salazar, as secretary, and 14 professionals from various sectors and institutions of Guantanamo society will assume the role of members.

On behalf of her colleagues, Oceanía Orihuela Bignotte read the oath of the new members of the Provincial Electoral Council, which is primarily responsible for ensuring the transparency and order of the electoral processes, plebiscites and consultations to be convened, in defense of one of the fundamental principles of the Socialist Homeland and respect for what is legislated.

At the end of the ceremony, the members of the CEP signed their respective commitments to assume the responsibilities and duties set forth in the Electoral Law.

The work of the electoral authorities of the eastern territory in the different electoral processes that took place in the last 5 years was also recognized, which will continue their work with transparency, impartiality and legality, as established by Law 127.
