Guantanamo.- In the municipality of Imías, in Guantanamo Province minor cracks have been reported in some homes and the Polyclinic Ciro Frías after the 5.5 magnitude earthquake that strikes 45 km southwest of Maisi at depth of 10 km, at the Cuban easternmost region.

The Municipal Defense Council’s working groups continue to visit the local neighborhoods to assess any other possible damage caused by the event, no tsunami alert reported.

Lázaro Castellanos Matos, the Secretary of the Communist Party, in the municipality reported by telephone, through the radio program “En Frecuencia con el Pueblo,” that minor aftershocks have been felt, but the population remains calm and all response measures are active.
