Cuba´s Tourism Ministry (MINTUR) celebrated on Thursday that U.S. media outlet National Geographic (NG) selected Cuba as the first cultural destination in the Americas. MINTUR’s statement on Facebook stated that a NG´s article pointed to Cuba as the first cultural destination to visit in the Americas in 2024.
The statement highlighted Havana as a melting pot of cultures with varied African, Caribbean, and Spanish influences.
National Geographic added that walking across its colorful colonial-era streets is the best way to learn about Havana’s long and eventful history.
Holidaymakers have been advised to spend a few days exploring the entire Havana, slipping through colonial doors or art-deco bars, tasting typical daiquiri, or cruising the streets in an iconic vintage car.
