Guantánamo.- The recognition of the emblematic Nengón Imías, for its 70th anniversary of its founding, was one of the most significant moments of the opening gala of the eighth edition of the Chocolate with Coffee Festival, which took place in the Plaza Polifuncional Pedro Agustín Pérez in the city of Guaso, with the presence of the main political, governmental and cultural authorities of the province of Guantánamo.
The director of Nengón Imías, Cristel Rodríguez, as well as the singer and founder of this musical-dance group, Arismeldo Pérez, during this inaugural meeting received the treat from the hands of Idaliena Díaz Casamayor, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Guantánamo, and Elio Omar Fuentes Caboverde, head of the Culture Directorate at the same level in this territory.
Soloist Vania Borges, the youth group Pochete, made up of students from the National School of Art (ENA), announcers Zandra Garrido and Marino Luzardo, along with Changüí Guantánamo, a duo of dancers from the Danza Libre Company, as well as students from the Alfredo Velázquez Professional Dance School made up the cast of opening gala of the Chocolate con Café Festival, an event that runs until December 1.
