Guantánamo – Several communities that are receiving water distributed by tanker truck in the Manuel Tames Municipality, in Guantanamo Province and a large area of ​​the territory’s main town will benefit from the start-up of a new aqueduct in the coming days.

The Guantánamo Provincial Aqueduct and Sewer Enterprise reported that a pumping station in Loma Blanca are ready in the El Corojo area, which will supply the Caña Victoria tank, which will distribute fresh water to the inhabitants of area.

Just a few minutes ago, the repair of a valve that regulates the distribution of water to more than 2,000 inhabitants in the Jamaica neighborhood was completed.

After long days of work, workers from the UEB Acueducto of Manuel Tames with the technical support and advice of the provincial management, managed to repair this valve that distributes the fresh water to the economic neighborhoods and the plant, which have been in operation for quite some time. They were not guaranteed this vital service.

Fernando Beltrán Leguen, acting director of the UEB Acueducto Manuel Tames, announced that the valve located on Ciro Frías/Marti and Flor Crombet streets had been having blockage problems for a long time that prevented the flow of water to the aforementioned neighborhoods, which had to be supplied through tanker truck, that burned excessive fuel, so this repair will contribute not only to providing a better service to the population, but will also mean significant fuel savings.

 

Since the beginning of this vital and essential task, political and governmental authorities of the territory have been present in the execution of this work, led by the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Party, Rafael Velázquez Bongo.
