Guantanamo.- The Forest Ranger Corps in Guantánamo develop preventive actions against forest fires, which include organization actions and regular disaster preparedness exercises to counteract these incidents in the territory.

The actions are aimed at different productive forms: Credit and Service Cooperatives, Agricultural Production, Basic Units of Cooperative Production, as well as holders of forest assets and the general population, mainly in the Popular Councils of the mountainous rural areas with the highest incidence of fires, in the municipalities of El Salvador, Manuel Tames, Yateras, Imías and Maisí.

The integrated work of the forest rangers prioritizes the training needs of technicians, Brigade Chiefs, Professional Brigades, Specialized Brigades and Volunteer Brigades, in addition to reducing the impact of forest fire, as the main objective, although the real conditions of the province to face the stage are marked by the existence of combustible materials ready to burn, due to the drought.

Territorially, the Plenary Sessions of the beginning of the campaign were developed to face the critical period, from January 1 to May 31, with the available means and resources, and the coordination with organizations and entities that participate in the forest fire prevention and extinction.

The wildfire in Guantánamo had severe consequences on the endemic flora and fauna of the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, in 2024, in which numerous hectares of that protected area were affected.
