Guantanamo.- Five poems and four stories were awarded in the 44th edition of the municipal debate meeting of Literary Workshops, this Saturday, with the right to compete with similar ones from other territories, in the provincial contest, scheduled for next Sunday, June 30.

In the category of poetry, the jury awarded “Tempestad” (Elisa Plá Duporté), “Ruedo” (Amelia González Correa), “Ciudad en vela” (Ana Camila Brown), “La región del silencio” (Osmel Díaz Ramírez) and “Camino” (Adela Lambert Gaínza).

In the tenths category with equal distinction were awarded Y en ese acto banal (Fernando Suárez Menéndez) and “Diálogo erótico” (Osmel Díaz Ramírez).

Similarly, they awarded prizes to the stories “Escribir es un arma de destrucción”(Sandra Bory), “Soy un tipo duro.., sí que lo soy” (Ángel Ernesto Ramírez), “La banda de Jakkov Jeshua” (Ennie Pérez Orihuela) and “Dora La exploradora” (Arletys Perigot Varga).

The jury also granted several mentions among the 24 poems (including tenths) and 12 stories – six of those works created by female and male writers, whose works were analyzed at the meeting, which was held in the Arab Hall of the Rubén López Sabariego House of Culture, of Guantanamo City, with recognition from that institution and the methodological direction of Cultural Literature to the laureates.

After congratulating the winners and those awarded with mention, Alguimis Zulueta Blancart, Literature methodologist at the Provincial Center of Casas de Cultura, thanked the participants and organizers, and urged the participants to endorse the statements made during the workshop, to improve technically, their works and, in the case of the winners, perfect them for the provincial event.

The contest panel was made up of the writers Oscar Cruz, Marité Jalice and Javier Correa, in the narrative category; and in the poetry category, Annia Alejo, Sobidelia Iglesias and Alejandro Reytor.
