Antonio Planos Samón, chairman of the event´s organizing committee and the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) in the First Cuban Village, said the concerts given by the local and visiting groups and DJs were warmly welcomed by those attending the area of the so-called Colón park, where the presentations were made.
Planos Samón said this time the theoretical event addressed the issue of sponsorship and promotion in Cuba, and counted with the presence of panelists like Dayami Rodriguez, a specialist from the Center of Exchange and Reference on Community Initiatives (CIERI) and the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba ( UNEAC) in Guantanamo; Lázaro Sevila, known as Dj sevil; Yusmani Gainza, head of the music section of Guantanamo´s artistic vanguard youth and director of the Caimanera concert band.
Addriel Bosch Cascaret, a journalist and head of the audiovisual section of the AHS in the easternmost province of Cuba who also participated, explained that sponsors have long existed in the Cuban stage, but were subjected to economic constraints that make work difficult to any supporter.
The occasion was propitious for talking about the taboos of independent production and the alternative ways to promote an artistic product with or without the help of institutions for this purpose, sometimes prevented from doing so by the government channels.
“Four years after its first proposal, the Leche Kortada Alternative Music Festival has the challenge of stabilizing its presence in the life of Baracoa´s people, for which purpose they need to add institutions of the culture sector," said the president of the AHS in this territory.
