After successful performances in Latin America, Europe and Asia, the film ''El acompañante'' will represent Cuba at the Oscars and Goya awards, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) announced today.
According to a statement issued by ICAIC, the film directed by Pavel Giroud and starring Miguel Armando Romero and Yotuel stood among the nominees for its ability to communicate with the viewer.
The narrative effectiveness and the characters' humanity make the film an high-quality audiovisual product, worthy to compete with the world's best films at the Oscars and the Goyas.
El acompañante has won the Co-Production Forum Best Project Award at San Sebastian Film Festival (2013) and the award for Best Screenplay at Havana Film Festival in New York.
The passenger will premiere in cinemas in Cuba next September.
