A perennial tribute to Fidel became a solemn ceremony called “Canto a Fidel” that showed the gratitude of the Guantanamo people to the top leader of the Cuban Revolution, who died two years ago.
On Saturday night at the Guaso Theater, of the easternmost Cuban city, the ceremony dedicated to Fidel Castro Rus, who died the 25th of November 2016, was a moment to remember his deep revolutionary convictions, unyielding anti-imperialism and position against injustice, ideals that make up his greatest legacy for Cuba and the world.
During the solemn act before a large number of audience, the President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Henry Terrero Rodríguez, gave the Plaque of the City to the members of the 29th Caravan Pastors for Peace, a delegation headed by Gail Walker, the daughter of the also late Reverend Lucius Walker, creator of this pacifist group that promotes concord between Cubans and Americans.

The act “Canto a Fidel,” under the artistic direction of Xiomara Solis, was performed by the children's company La Colmenita, Guantanamo, art instructors of the José Martí Brigade, students of the Professional Dance School "Alfredo Velázquez" , the soloist Lina Zamora and the actor Ury Rodríguez, led by the announcer Eloaglis Carnet.

During the presentation the children performed poetry, songs and dances that not only showed their talent, but also their hearts pounding with emotions grateful to the everlasting ideals of the undefeated Commander.
