More than two hundred thousand units of remedies of natural herbs were produced in Guantanamo so far this year, with the purpose of promoting the use of the so-called Green Medicine, together with the use of acupuncture, mud therapy and homeopathy, among other ancient therapies.
These phytopharmaceuticals, produced in 14 pharmacy units and in two Local Production Centers located in Baracoa and in the capital city, make it possible to substitute dispensary chemical drugs in deficit and offer non-invasive treatments to patients.
Marbelis Arguelles Baute, specialist to attend this activity in the Provincial Pharmacy and Optical Company, said that natural products contain plant ingredients and their use is an alternative treatment to improve the most frequent diseases that affect the population such as asthma, arterial hypertension, rheumatological diseases, among others.
She also stressed that among the medicines of this type of greatest demand are the tincture of caña santa, syrup Imefasma, products that contain honey, analgesic lotions and creams of onion, aloe and chamomile.
The producers of Natural Medicine are sold in the network of 122 community pharmacies located in the ten municipalities of Guantanamo and are also used in hospitals, polyclinics, clinics and other health units.
