Promoting the use of the magnetic card among the population is one of the priorities of the Banco Popular de Ahorro, as part of efforts to computerize banking systems, said Aymé Cobas Urgellés, specialist in Electronic Banking and Communication of that entity in Guantanamo.
Among the strategies to promote the issuance of cards, she mentioned the discount of five percent of the payment for services and products in hard-currency stores, coffee shops and other establishments with post services since last June and the generalization of the use of mobile and remote banking .
Since June of this year, she explained, they work together with the National Institute of Assistance and Social Security to change the means of payment of retirees and pensioners who come to renew their checkbooks, a process that began in the Guantanamo and Baracoa municipalities.
Cobas Urgellés also insisted on the advantages of the use of mobile banking and remote banking, which can be accessed from cell phones and the navigation service to check the balance of the cards, make transfers and pay taxes, as well as of telephone service and electricity.
The method to request a magnetic card in the Popular Banks, meant the civil servant, is very simple because the interested one only must present with identification card in the banking branch and request the product that will be ready in 21 days.
