After overcoming COVID-19, hundreds of Guantanamo residents today attend multidisciplinary medical consultations in the Health areas, where their evolution is monitored and possible effects of the disease are detected and treated, thus contributing to the comprehensive recovery of each convalescent patient.
Yateras is a one hundred percent mountainous territory; this municipality shows important advances in the Comprehensive Program for Mountainous Regions (Turquino Plan) since its creation, where authorities and the population in general work together with the purpose of achieving excellence and satisfying the ever-growing needs of its inhabitants.
In the effort to advance in the integral and sustainable socio-economic development of the mountainous areas of the country, the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, approved on June 2, 1987, the creation of the Comprehensive Program for Mountainous Regions, better known as Plan Turquino, for the increase of agricultural productions and the standard of living of the population in close harmony with nature.
"That science and innovation accompany all the processes to achieve the necessary transformations that are demanded in the environmental, economic-productive and political-social dimension is a responsibility of the governmental bodies of the People's Power", said Emilio Matos Mosqueda, Governor of Guantanamo in the Provincial Council of Government, corresponding to the month of May.
One of the main challenges that Cuba has today, in the face of strengthening its sovereignty and economic sustainability, is the development of an innovative education in the business system in order to solve these pressing problems of the country and comply with the Sustainable Development Goals, promoted by the UN.
