Guantanamo General HospitalThe seventh Symposium "Doctor Agostinho Neto in memoriam", distinguished event of the largest hospital institution in Guantanamo, which bears the name of the founder of the People's Republic of Angola, was held with the purpose of joining effort for the development of the investigations and the integral formation of its professionals.

Dr. Rogelio Creagh Banderas, general organizer of the meeting, recognized the importance of scientific studies presented by experts from all medical specialties and the System of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the territory, as well as students and professors of the two universities of the province.

Among the most important papers presented at the event are those referring to natural medicine and clinical immunology, the analysis of maternal morbidity in the intensive care unit and the risks of pregnancy in adolescence, among other current contents.

In emotional ceremony, Zulema de la Caridad Matos Columbie, a distinguished professor at the University of Guantánamo, donated four volumes of the complete works of Doctor Agostinho Neto to the library of the general hospital of the territory, texts that were acquired by her and her sister Ceila in the birthplace of the renowned doctor, writer and politician.

The Scientific Symposium "Dr. Agostinho Neto In Memoriam" is held since 2012 with the aim of promoting knowledge of the history of the Angolan leader who gives name to the event, and the experiences of the more than 200 Guantanamo doctors who provide services to the African nations.
