
Guantanamo.´- Games, festivals, paintings on asphalt, presentation of children’s interest clubs, audiovisual screaming, traditional dances and other proposals are among the activities prepared in the educational and recreational centers of Guantanamo to celebrate, this June 1st, the International Children’s Day.
Rosa Camila Ilizástegui, president of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM) in the province, stressed the importance of the date for the entire society and, especially, the minors; She explained that in addition to the activities in the recreational facilities, the two Houses for children without family protection in the territory will be key points in the programming.
The opening of the children’s day will be from the Jamaica town, in the Manuel Tames Municipality, with the Cubabaila Festival; La Edad de Oro park, in the Guantánamo City, will host the initiatives of the Artesaneando con Yeni project in the morning, and the Ismaelillo Playground will host the Children’s Changüí Festival, with the Changüiseritos groups, from El Salvador and Guantánamo.
Cuba, my country. Painting my rights, another of the day’s options, that will display visual arts made by the children; while Elpidio Valdés Park will offer a wide range of gastronomic offers at reasonable prices, and La Colmenita Guantánamo will be presented in the Pedro A. Pérez Polifunctional Plaza.
This date is dedicated to brotherhood and understanding among children around the world and has been celebrated in Cuba since 1963, when it was established by agreement of the United Nations General Assembly, and has become an expected date over time. aimed at safeguarding the rights and well-being of the new generation.
