An Observatory on gender equality has been carried out in the Guantanamo Province for some years, at the headquarters of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), an office in charge of data processing and dissemination on gender equity approach and social justice.
One of the functions of the Observatory is to provide gender-sensitive, reliable, quality information, disaggregated by provinces and skin color, relating to women and men in all their diversity.
The information collected contributes to decision-making and the adoption of public policies, monitoring and evaluation of the impact of government measures, as well as the periodic visibility of data with a gender perspective and its direct and indirect implication in economic and social processes from the province, explained Adilis Noris Torres Hernández, a member of the FMC’s provincial secretariat.
