Guantanamo.-Emotion and commitment merged in the hearts of 30 Guantanameros who were stimulated in the ceremony of decorations held at the Mariana Grajales Cuello Revolution Square, in the capital city, in honor of July 26th, National Rebellion Day.
Fernando Silega Durruthy, from the sugar sector, and Omara Niurka Lopez Gonzalez, from the construction sector, received the Lazaro Peña II and III Degree Order for their relevant trajectory, while eleven workers with outstanding performance were awarded the Jesus Menendez Medal and distinctions from their respective unions.
The Labor Achievement Medal was also awarded to prosecutor Alexander Bonne Fernandez.
Juana Eglis Fernandez Louit, general secretary of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba in the province, highlighted the dedication of the honorees affiliated to the Civilian Defense, Culture, Hotel and Tourism, Public Administration, Public Administration, Health, Education, Science and Sports, Energy and Mines and Communications unions.
In his speech to the honorees, Yoel Perez Garcia, first secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Guantanamo, highlighted the courage and altruism of these men and women, whose example should be multiplied in order to contribute more and more to the socio-economic development of this eastern territory.
Alis Azahares, provincial governor, and other leaders of the political and mass organizations also accompanied the awardees.
