Pablo Soroa and the example he leaves behindGuantanamo – When talking about Guantanamo journalist, Pablo Soroa Fernandez, who died of cancer at the age of 78, it is necessary to mention his work for the Cuban News Agency, to which he dedicated the last stage of a professional career that exceeded half a century of fruitful trajectory.

A few months before his death, Soroa reported for his beloved agency, to which he gave prestige for a little more than 20 years of exemplary service, 13 of these as chief correspondent in the easternmost province, a position in which he ceased in 2017.

His tenacity, dedication and demand led the collective those 13 years to the most outstanding step of the country on several occasions, and was credited with the status of national vanguard.

He showed the utmost dedication to his work, and his management tasks did not prevent him from being among the most productive in the fraternal emulations that each year crowned the balance of what had been accomplished.

The most varied topics of the provincial events in Guantanamo, especially those of science, economy and history, did not escape from his keen, cultured pen and impeccable style, which denoted mastery of the language and his most elegant ways of writing.

Insatiable reader, of vast knowledge, his Special Services are still remembered, in which he always surprised with some interesting story.

Life put me in the difficult path of replacing him in the position, which he declined due to age and health; I learned a lot from his mastery, especially from his greatness and humility, although sometimes stubborness, but with the respect of a wise man.

Pablo Soroa Fernandez is an example of a journalist of extra stature, in physical, moral and intellectual stature.
