Six entities of the Palmares extra-hotel branch in Guantanamo were given a national recognition for being free of substances that deplete the ozone layer by the use of equipment that does not emanate these gases, also causing a negative impact on biodiversity and nature in general.
The award-winning centers are the La Guantanamera Patio Bar, Olimpia Sport Bar, the Dinos Pizza, La Rotonda and Flor de Paseo cafeterias, as well as the Fortuna Café, whose workers were determined to replace the Hydrochlorofluorocarbons in their climate and refrigeration equipment.
Eleven courses on good practices in refrigeration were held at the José Maceo Grajales Technical School in the territory with 158 graduates, including state and self-employed workers, said the specialist from the Environment Subdelegation in the province.
Based on these actions, Guantanamo responds to Cuba’s commitment to the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols, under the maxim of cooperating at a global level in the protection of the Earth’s natural shield to preserve life on the planet.
