Passenger transportation guaranteed in Guantanamo during the summer seasonThe provision of service by bus and other modalities is prioritized in Guantanamo province during the summer months, based on local alternatives for the transfer of passengers, emphasizes Orestes Hernandez Martinez, operations chief of the provincial transportation directorate.

The one hundred and forty-four interprovincial, intermunicipal and local routes are maintained, as well as railroad services, with great acceptance of the recent trains from Guantanamo to Santiago de Cuba and Holguin provinces respectively, both with two weekly frequencies.

In the same way, transportation to the bathing areas is established with the transporting entity equipment and also of the non state form as the private trucks in perfect technical condition and the means of animal traction, specifically the cars of great use in summer areas in Imias municipality.

The executive also said that during weekends, the transfer of passengers from Guantanamo city to Yateritas beach is boosted with about twenty buses of the transport company, trucks and other means belonging to state entities that established agreements with the transport sector.

For this service of great demand, a route was established in the morning from the bus terminal and with stops in some points of the capital city located in Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue, Crombet Street and Guantanamo University.

Likewise, at the request of some labor groups and families, contracts are established at a reasonable price with the Unidad Empresarial de Base de Omnibus Urbano for the trip to and from Yateritas beach and other nearby beaches, a variant that is consolidated directly with the head of operations of this Unidad Empresarial de Base or through the telephone number 21 362741.

Orestes Hernandez Martinez, operations head of the provincial transportation directorate, also assured that the transfer to the beach is by safe means after a technical review, while seven breathalyzer points have been set up to prevent traffic accidents this summer 2024.
