Guantanamo.- Democracy, adherence to the truth, and compliance with the Electoral Law are the foundations of success in the various processes, emphasized Mariela Rondón, Vice President of the National Electoral Council, in Guantánamo, during her address at the 2025 annual balance meeting of that state body in the province.

She stressed the importance of filling vacant positions and greater integration to advance the updating of voter lists, as well as strengthening public understanding of the Cuban Electoral System.

The Vice President of the aforementioned institution stated that Guantánamo stands out for its compliance with the aforementioned electoral regulations and also demonstrates consolidated work in its administrative activities.

Regarding local performance, Oceanía Orihuela Bigñote, president of the Provincial Electoral Council, stated that during the evaluation period, the electoral authorities organized and conducted various processes and tasks with complete professionalism, impartiality, and transparency.

She noted that the province currently has 595 approved electoral districts and more than 1,500 polling stations, and in this regard, she emphasized the need to improve support for electoral authorities and polling stations to ensure better organization of grassroots work in preparation for the upcoming municipal elections.

Regarding work plans for 2026, the president of the Provincial Electoral Council in Guantánamo highlighted the need to implement an effective popular training system that helps the new generation deepen their understanding of the Cuban political system
