Pharmaceutical Worker’s Day celebrated in GuantánamoIncreasing the manufacturing of natural products and maintaining control in the pharmacy network to prevent illegalities are among the main challenges of the pharmaceutical workers in Guantanamo, who celebrate their day this November 22.
Raciel Prieto Maceo, general director of the provincial Pharmacy and Optical Enterprise, assured that the group of workers is characterized by maintaining a good relationship with patients despite the shortages and low coverage of conventional medications in the midst of a complex situation due to the difficulties in importing finished products, raw materials and inputs.
Likewise, Yalina Rojas Turró pointed out that the staff is working at 122 pharmacy units, 8 opticians and 3 local production centers and they keep a good relationship with patients and guide them in a timely manner as part of the ethics and professionalism that characterizes them in the midst of a scenario where inspection and continuous confrontation with crimes and illegalities is essential.
Also a challenge, she said, is the digital transformation of pharmaceutical services to facilitate the population’s access to transparent information on available products and their rational use.
The workers of the Pharmacy and Optical Enterprise in Guantanamo maintain the commitment to be faithful to their duties, as a worthy tribute on the birth anniversary of the outstanding revolutionary Antonio Guiteras Holmes, who graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Havana. He was born 22 November 1906 in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, United States and died at age 26 in Matanzas, Cuba, in gun battle with Batista’s army on May 8, 1935.
