The Political Song Jornada, the most long-lived and most important event of the Saíz Brothers Association (AHS) in the country, will celebrate its 48th edition in Guantanamo, from August 1st to 5th.
The event, sponsored by the AHS, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Union of Young Communists, in honor of five young people killed on August 4th, 1957 by the explosion of a bomb factory of the 26th of July Movement, promotes the work of new and established interpreters of the troubadour song of political-social content.
Arletty Romero Lafargue, vice president in Guantanamo of the organizationof young artistic and intellectual vanguard, said that theocasion will be dedicated to the presence of trova in the national audiovisual production, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industries (ICAIC) and the 55th anniversary of the Sound Experimentation Group of ICAIC.
It will also recognize the 55 years of artistic life of Lorenzo Cisneros Hernandez (Topete), founder of the event and the Nueva Trova movement in the easternmost province and the new Mexican song, he stressed.
Guests include Augusto Blanca, Eduardo Sosa, Freddy Laffita, the Tuxtepec Ballet from Mexico, guitarist Pablo Menéndez, Cristian Colina, Yanco León, Liván Leyva and his group, Mexican Guadalupe Celis, Henry Fonseca, Nelson Valdés, Annalie López (Azucena), Audis Vargas, Jorge (Yoyi) Barrett, among others, who will join their voices to the troubadours and local artists.
Concerts, peñas, trova and poetry recitals, theoretical panels, extensions to communities in the capital city, hospitals, penitentiary units and the Border Brigade, Order Antonio Maceo, are on the program of the event, which also brings together other arts such as literature, plastic arts, dance and audiovisual production.
There will also be presentations in non-state centers such as the Ranchón Tripleplay, in Guantanamo city and in Baracoa, Niceto Pérez, Caimanera and Manuel Tames municipalities.
In the theoretical moments stand out the panels New Mexican music; another one on the life and work of Lorenzo Cisneros Hernandez, honored figure who currently resides in the Aztec nation and the one dedicated to the events of August 4, 1957, motivation and inspiration of the Jornada.
The trova café, one of the spaces that will be activated, will make possible the recording of interviews for the television program Entre Manos, with troubadours such as Josué Oliva, Topete and young minstrels who stand out in this musical genre.
As usual, the inaugural concert will take place on the evening of August 1st, at the 24 de febrero square, while on the 3rd there will be a pilgrimage to the obelisk that perpetuates the memory of the fallen youths Fabio Rosell del Río, Gustavo Fraga Jacomino, Enrique Rodríguez, Jesús Martín Leyva and Abelardo Cuza Navarro and a tribute concert on August 4th.
The Journey will extend until August 5th, with the visit of the guests to Playita de Cajobabo, site of the landing of José Martí, Major General Máximo Gómez and other patriots, on April 11, 1895, to join the necessary war.
At the historic site the artists will offer their art to the community and in the museum allegorical to the most important date of Guantanamo province .
