The 47th edition of the Political Song Festival, the longest-running event developed by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Cuba, returns to Guantanamo cultural scene, from August 1 to 4.
On this occasion, the event will be dedicated to the 4th Congress of the AHS, to trova record production as a way to preserve musical memory and to the Guantanamo singer-song writer Josué Oliva, who celebrates 40 years of music career.
Presentations of books, records and video clips, exhibitions, conferences, trova jam sessions, and visits to the Border Brigade, Antonio Maceo Order, penitentiary centers and communities, are some of the activities of the event.
The theoretical section of the Political Song Festival will have the presence of the researcher Antonio López Sánchez and the musicologist Yorisel Andino from Santiago de Cuba; meanwhile, music concerts are held by renowned artists such as Tony Ávila, Eduardo Sosa, Marta Campos, Heydi Igualada, Nelson Valdés and Annalie López, together with local troubadours.
The last day of the activities and concerts staged as part of the event are dedicated to IV Congress of the AHS, Pablo Milanés and Josué Oliva himself, and it also includes the traditional pilgrimage along Aguilera Street, from the House of the Young Creator to the Obelisk of the Martyrs of August 4 and a trova jam performed by Guantanamo troubadours and guest artists.
