The Pozo Azul dam, located in Valle de Caujerí, stored 11.9 million m³ of water until last Wednesday, an amount that brings it closer to its top capacity, which is 14.8 million m³.
The water transfer from the Sabanalamar River, favored by rainfall in the homonymous basin, has enabled since last June a continuous rise of the water impounded in the hydraulic work, an event of great significance for agriculture and the population.
The reestablishment of Pozo Azul is of great significance for the province, and not only for the municipality of San Antonio del Sur, since el Valle de Caujerí is the Guantanamo´s main productive center and is engaged in carrying out a good cold sowing campaign.
The Sabanalamar-Pozo Azul transfer currently moves 900 liters per second to the reservoir, which is significant for the season.
