Guantanamo. – The Juan Marinello printing plant has produced more than 355,000 lined notebooks and approximately 18,000 workbooks for the current school year in Guantánamo.
The supplies form part of the materials provided to support the 2026–2027 academic year.
Ángela Maura Correoso, director of Resource Planning at the General Directorate of Education of the Guantánamo Provincial Administration, explained that the workbooks were produced in four formats: elementary mathematics, spatial relations, diagnostic activities and pre-writing. Each format has a print run of 4,500 copies.
She also noted that the production of approximately 33,903 attendance and assessment records for all educational levels is currently being planned, and coordination for the preparation of these materials has already begun.
The director emphasized that securing these resources is taking place in a challenging economic context. More than 79,000 students in Guantánamo began the school year in 823 educational institutions across the province’s ten municipalities and provincial centers.
The Guantánamo printing industry, inaugurated on July 1, 1977, by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, allocates more than 70 percent of its production to the Ministry of Education.
