The business consultancy Zuturo is developing a new project to contribute to the empowerment of women in the vulnerable communities of Loma Blanca, in Guantanamo, and San Juan, Santiago de Cuba provinces.
According to Evelyn Torres, economic advisor, the initiative seeks to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of women through workshops, as well as to provide them with materials and resources for their development, which will allow the creation of new opportunities that generate welfare, jobs and the strengthening of the domestic economy.
The experience will benefit more than two thousand people and is supported by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives, managed by the Canadian Embassy in the Caribbean island, and with the collaboration of the small companies WBoix and Witari SRL, Guardería Sonrisas and the creative group Creanex, she said.
She said that through a participatory and inclusive process, the needs and motivations for the development of the proposal were identified and the best forms of intervention and reception were devised.
For her part, Susel Domínguez, project manager, highlighted Zuturo’s accompaniment with various spaces that promote the gender perspective, awareness of cultural diversity and business management in entrepreneurship projects.
He referred to the workshops on urban agriculture, agroecology and permaculture, the manufacture of wooden toys, the preparation of childcare assistants and the training of seamstresses, which will enhance skills for future businesses, as well as activities for the delivery of resources acquired during the project.
Domínguez emphasized the importance of having developing enterprises with business management skills participate in the project by contributing their experiences, best practices, results and insertion in the community, in order to contribute to their sustainability and sustainability.
She also indicated that they have received the support of various factors and the Federation of Cuban Women since the conception of the initiative.
According to Isabel Berenguer, head of the Sonrisas Day Care Center, her business will provide exchanges on the business and methodological operation, in order to advise and support the successful implementation of other projects like hers.
Zuturo, created more than a year ago, provides specialized advice to entrepreneurs on legal, financial, marketing, business and technical issues, among others, according to the client’s needs.
