Guantanamo – Yoel Pérez García, president of the Guantanamo Provincial Defense Council, chose the recovery of Public Health after the passage of Hurricane Oscar as the central theme of the next radio programme En Frecuencia cons el Pueblo, which will be on air for an indefinite period every Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., on the CMKS Radio Station.
During his speech at the aforementioned popular participation news space, the top political leader in the eastern territory pointed out that the workers in the health sector have many anecdotes and experiences of how they recovered from the cyclone in record time and maintained vital services to the population in the midst of adverse conditions.
He also stressed that in the healthcare institutions there are many anonymous heroes, who with the support of the people recovered almost all the healthcare infrastructure damaged by the floods and strong winds of the hydrometeorological phenomenon, and demonstrated that Guantanamo Rises because Together We Can Do More.
He also congratulated the members of the Federation of Secondary Education (FEEM) and the University Students’ Federation (FEU) on the occasion of commemorating this Sunday, November 17, International Student Day.
In this regard, he reported that the main event for the anniversary, organized by the Provincial Committee of the Young Communists League (UJC), will take place in the Maisí Municipality, one of the most affected by the devastating hurricane Oscar at the end of last October.
In this largest coffee-producing town in the Cuban Upper East, and others such as Baracoa, Imías and San Antonio del Sur, the students carried out intense and decisive days of work to repair the extensive damage caused by the cyclone.
Pérez García took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the residents of the town of San Cristóbal de La Habana, the capital of the country, who are celebrating the 505th anniversary of its foundation this Saturday, November 16.
