Guantanamo.- In the easternmost part of Cuba, a voice resonates, weaving the history of its community: Radio Maisí La Voz del Sol (The Voice of the Sun), Radio Station,” a name that highlights the geographical area of Cuba where the sun’s rays first reach the shore, where the aroma of coffee mingles with the sound waves of the radio station.
This radio station enriches its programming with fresh and relevant content to inform, entertain, and maintain its popularity among its listeners.
Since its inception on November 29, 2004, the community radio station has served as a beacon of information and culture for nearly 28,000 residents who, day after day, celebrate their traditions and share their experiences through the airwaves.
With a diverse lineup of 19 programs, Radio Maisí broadcasts eight hours daily, from noon to 8 p.m., accurately capturing the pulse of the region, whose most cherished landmarks include the Cemí de Gran Tierra and the Punta de Maisí Lighthouse, known as Concha.
This November 29th is particularly special, not only because it marks another anniversary of the station, but also because it celebrates the 21st anniversary of its flagship program, “Con Sabor a Café” (With the Taste of Coffee).
This program, airing Monday through Friday, connects families with the best of rural culture, music, anecdotes, and interviews that highlight the passionate work of local farmers in one of the province’s largest coffee-growing areas.
