Guantanamo.- Facing shortages of fuel and spare parts, the Radiocuba Guantánamo Division redoubled its efforts in 2024 to maintain the main radio and television transmissions, in the midst of the country’s complex economic context.

The group faced a reduction in income due to the failure on radio communications services due to the lack of resources for the operation of some transmitters and generators, together with power failures and poor road conditions that limit the arrival of technical personnel to the most intricate places.

However, during 2024, the staff maintained the network of 122 devices as much as possible with a minimum of interruptions and efficiency at 98 percent of the maintenance that could be carried out and resolved in record time the effects caused by Hurricane Oscar on transmitters in the eastern part of the province.

The Radiocuba Guantánamo external plant group also carried out work for other entities, such as the maintenance of towers of the territorial division of Etecsa and guaranteeing the services of all the installed equipment.

Faced with difficulties that exceed the efforts of Radiocuba workers, the staff is betting on new alternatives such as reducing transmitters in areas that are also covered by others or transferring them to ETECSA telephone centers, actions that will allow for greater attention to the network and having spare parts for vital equipment.

The Radiocuba Guantánamo staff hopes to maintain stability in services, while seeking alternatives such as carrying out projects, in order to improve the salaries of workers and guarantee transmissions for users throughout the province.
